Precision Racing Labs Takes on the Night – History, Grit and Endurance at Formula K Day-Night Race & 9-Hour
This weekend Precision Racing Labs faces its most demanding challenge of the 2026 season as the four-stroke squad heads to Formula K Raceway for the highly anticipated Day-Night Race and 9-Hour Endurance.
What begins as a full programme of F400 Sprint racing will transform into an all-night test of mental toughness, physical endurance, and pure determination. After completing their sprint races, Derek Martin, Willem Louw and Kyle Lawrence will step straight into the endurance kart for a gruelling 9-hour stint running from 22:30 through to 07:30. They will be joined by an highly experienced driver, Adrian Wood, forming a four-driver line-up that carries both current form and deep racing history.
A Story More Than a Decade in the Making
This event is more than just another race for Precision Racing Labs. It is a reunion of old rivals and long-time teammates under a new banner.
Derek Martin and Adrian Wood have known each other for more than 25 years. As teammates at 2P Racing and later Laserfiche Racing, the pair claimed two endurance titles together. Their partnership was built on trust, shared ambition and countless hours spent grinding through long-distance races. Tyler Stanyer the Precision Racing Labs Bambino talent is Adrian’s nephew, with Gerrard Martin in the team mix we have some generational talent at play.
Meanwhile, Kyle Lawrence spent five seasons on the opposite side of the paddock, racing for the Honda South Africa team that was the fiercest rival of 2P and Laserfiche. The two camps pushed each other hard throughout those years.
Now, a decade later, those former teammates and former rivals stand united under the Precision Racing Labs banner. The message is clear: the past is respected, but the focus is firmly on the night ahead.
Leading by Example
For Derek, Willem and Kyle, the decision to complete a full sprint programme and then race through the night is deliberate. It is about mental toughness and setting the standard for every young driver in the team.
“This is what we talk about when we speak of the Top G mindset,” said Derek Martin, Owner and Founder of Precision Racing Labs. “You don’t just talk about grind and resilience — you live it. Completing the sprints and then jumping straight into a 9-hour race is tough, but that is exactly the example we want to set for the young drivers watching. If we ask them to dig deep, we have to dig deeper ourselves.”
New Faces in F400
Adding further significance to the weekend, two drivers from the team’s SSS programme will make their F400 Series debuts. Seth Ntoi and Cassim Waja step up into the F400 Sprint class for the first time. While they will not contest the 9-hour endurance, both will be present throughout the event to support the team and gain valuable experience in a high-pressure environment.
